India’s Daughter

Artemis Women in Action Film Festival is proud to screen India’s Daughter, a groundbreaking, galvanizing film.

The single most important issue of the 21st Century is global gender inequality. Women’s right are human rights and violation of those rights is a human rights tragedy of international proportions. India’s Daughter, directed by Leslee Udwin, is one of the most powerful documentaries ever to tackle the subject of the abuse of women and the cultural acceptance and silence on the issue.

Focused on the gang rape and murder of a young Indian woman, India’s Daughter explores India’s patriarchical values and how their unchallenged bias has lead to a widespread epidemic of sexual violence in the Indian subcontinent.

Female empowerment through physical action is the credo of the Artemis Fillm Festival. Sometimes that physical action can be as much in the activist steps we take to fight injustice as it can be in the punches we throw.

India’s Daughter is a gut-punch to those who wish to ignore the rights of women to their bodies, minds and souls.

Fight Valley

The Artemis Women In Action Film Festival is proud to present an exclusive sneak preview of Fight Valley.

Directed by Rob hawk, the film features some of the most popular female athletes in the world, including UFC champion Miesha Tate, former UFC Champ Holly Holm, and Invicta Champ Cris “Cyborg” Justino, Fight Valley is an action-packed film focused on the world of female underground fighters.

When her sister is found dead, Windsor moves to the small town known as Fight Valley to investigate. Learning that her death came about as a result of underground fighting, Windsor sets off on a journey for answers into that dark and brutal world. The catch? She’ll have to fight her way in. And out.

Great athletes, great fights and a woman seeking justice– great ingredients for a “women-in-action” film and a great dishe to be served up a this year’s festival!

No Touching

The Artemis Women In Action Film Festival is proud to present the world premiere screening of No Touching.

Written and Directed by Will Corona Pilgrim & Adam Davis, and starring Zoe Bell and Heidi Moneymaker, the film stars two women who are the gold standard in stunts today.

When Michelle and Jackie begrudgingly agree to accompany their friend to a thrilling haunted house attraction in downtown L.A., they grow concerned when they are required to sign a waiver that invites the performers to touch but prevents them from touching back. Once inside, they discover the performers are far more invasive than they should be, and once they cross the line, these ass-kickers remind them how ladies should be treated!

Never Let Go

A fantastic screening which we are proud of at this year’s The Artemis Film Festival is the US premiere of Never Let Go.

An international action-thriller with Angela Dixon as the kick-ass female lead, Never Let Go is taughtly and expertly directed by Howard J. Ford. This exciting UK picture has been nominated for a British National Film Award.

A single mother desperately searches for her missing child in a beautiful, but unfamiliar land, following an apparent abduction. Trusting no one, and stopping at nothing, as she weaves her way through the murky backstreets and barren landscapes, now implicated in the murder of a seemingly innocent man, her connections back in the US begin to reveal that there is much more at stake than first meets the eye.

Last year’s fest began a tradition of fabulous female action films from the UK and Never Let Go continues that tradition. With exotic locales, great fight scenes and a powerful story, Never Let Go is one you must watch at this year’s fest.

Crawl or Die

Artemis Women in Action Film Festival is proud to screen Crawl or Die, a successful micro budget horror film.

While mainstream Hollywood and film studios continue to ignore the power and market clout of women as action heroes, there is a whole movement of female action filmmaking cropping up right under their noses.

Crawl Or Die, directed by Oklahoma Ward is a perfect example of that independent female action filmmaking at it’s best. With a charismatic kick-ass female lead that battles her way out of every jam, Crawl or Die has developed a huge international following.

More proof that female action films are popular, profitable and powerful!
